Welcome to the website of the Northumbrian Water Ellington Colliery Band.

The Band are a First Section Brass Band and hail originally from the small mining village of Ellington in the North East of England.

Until early 2005, Ellington Colliery was the last deep mine pit in the UK; and as well as being home to the band was also a second home to many skilled men who worked down the mine keeping alive a proud heritage and industry for the region.

The band takes pride in its roots, and its history dates back as to 1925 when men from the colliery paid a small part of their weekly wage towards the upkeep of the band.

2005 though sees very exciting times; as Northumbrian Water have come forward to support the band as sponsors, this support is reflected with a name change from being the Ellington Colliery Band, to being the Northumbrian Water Ellington Colliery Band.

As well as this news, the band completed a tour of the Netherlands in May 2005, a first for the band, but without doubt not the last.
