Why not hire Ellington Colliery Band for music making at your next event.
The Band offers music from all genres, played by talented and experienced brass musicians and percussionists. The band has an extensive library of over 1200 pieces of music so our repertoire can be suited to any event or celebration.
The band performs throughout the North East of England, but we have often played outside the area at venues like Carlisle Cathedral and the Royal Showground at Stoneleigh.
The typical cost for the band is £400, however the costs vary depending on the type of event, location, music required, time and number of players required and will be discussed at the time of enquiry.
The band is a non profit making organisation and a registered charity (1152299); all fees contribute to the running costs and development of the band.
Booking the Band
If you are interested in booking the band for your event, please contact the Band Manager.
A brass band providing live music can give an extra dimension to this special occasion.
What we offer.
The band offers a first class service for weddings. Nothing can beat the sight of a band in full uniform: Normally, when we are playing outdoors, we wear black blazers, white shirt, tie and black trousers; alternatively we can wear our formal dress uniforms with bow ties. Many venues cannot support a full brass band but we can offer reduced ensembles that will give an equally impressive performance for the wedding.
At the ceremony we can provide the processional music for the Bride and recessional music after the ceremony is completed, if the wedding is taking place in Church we can accompany the hymns and we can also provide musical interludes as the guests arrive and during or after the ceremony. At the reception we can also provide music as the guests arrive and during the reception itself. We can even provide a fanfare team to welcome the Bride and Groom.
Our Band Manager will work closely with whoever is planning the wedding to ensure that we tailor our service to fit your needs. Our extensive library of music ensures that we can accommodate most special requests, and when we cannot, we will endeavor to find the music externally or have it arranged by our in-house arranger
The fee for a wedding varies depending upon the specific requirements for the event and will be negotiated upon enquiry.
Cragside House/Embleton Hall - A ten piece ensemble provided music throughout the ceremony at Cragside and then for the guests arriving at Embleton Hall for the reception.
Longframlington Church/Linden Hall – a sextet from the band provided all of the music for the church service and joined the rest of the band to provide music for the guests’ arrival at Linden Hall for the reception.
Felton Church/Chillingham Castle – The band’s principal cornet played alongside the organist during the ceremony and later joined the rest of the band to play in the courtyard of Chillingham Castle at the drinks reception.
These are examples to give a flavor of our service, most requirements can be met.
If you would like to talk to us about how we can enhance a special day then please contact the Band Manager.
The band plays at many outdoor events throughout the year, at events such as:
Local Parks (e.g. Morpeth Picnic in the Park, Blyth Bandstand)
Festivals (e.g. Morpeth Fair, The Renewables Festival, the Royal Show)
Historic Events (e.g. Morpeth Gathering, Belsay Hall Castle and Gardens)
Private Events (e.g. Garden Parties, Dinners)
Sporting Events (i.e. Newcastle Gateshead Boat Race)
Our extensive repertoire enables us to meet most requirements; it is very rare that we cannot meet a client’s requests.
The band performs many concerts throughout the year. A brass band concert can be a great way of raising funds and we have several different forms of payment which can maximize the funds raised by the event. This can be discussed at the enquiry stage.
A concert usually consists of two halves of music and lasts approximately 2 hours. These concerts usually involve the full brass band of 25 brass players and 3 percussionists. The music performed normally covers a wide range of genres; from classical to pop, from Sacred music to film themes and all points between, in addition to this our programs always feature a selection of our prizewinning soloists. We can also perform a themed program if required. Themes we have used in the past are:
Last Night of the Proms
We have performed concerts in many venues, for example we have recently played in The Sage, Gateshead, Carlisle Cathedral and many churches throughout the region.
The band has also performed as part of a joint concert, with other ensembles or with a guest soloist.
We are able play Christmas Music and Christmas Carols outdoors, at events such as the Morpeth Town Christmas Lights ceremony and Berwick Edwardian Christmas Market. We can also perform a formal Christmas concert, for example we perform concerts annually at the request of two of the local Rotary Clubs; who have raised thousands of pounds as a result of our Christmas concerts.
