Miners’ Picnic

Throughout the 20th century, the Northumberland Miners' Picnic included a brass band march competition. Winning players were given some interesting prizes, from dart boards to plastic washing baskets. Here is John Colvine, principal cornet, with his prize of a kettle which he won for his part in the contest march Raby.
