Ellington Colliery Brass Band will be taking to the stage at the Durham Theatre and Cinema for the North of England Area Contest. Fresh from promotion to the Second Section, the band is excited to test itself against strong competition and showcase this section’s test piece; “20,000 Leagues Under The Sea”, arranged by Philip Harper.

The band will be travelling north of the border to take part in the Carnegie Contest as part of the Fife Brass Band Festival. This prestigious event brings together bands from across the country for a day of top-quality competition and music-making.

One of the highlights of the brass band calendar, the Whit Friday contests see bands travelling between villages to compete in a series of fast-paced contests throughout the evening. Ellington Colliery Brass Band is proud to take part in the world-famous Durham Miners’ Gala, a colourful parade celebrating the region’s mining heritage. With banners, crowds, and brass bands filling the streets, it’s one of the biggest and most vibrant days in the brass band calendar.

The band returns to Fife to compete in the Fife Open, performing a march, hymn, and test piece in this well-respected contest. It promises a full day of competitive music-making against bands from across the region.

Ellington Colliery Brass Band will be competing at the Stanley Entertainment Contest, performing an entertaining programme designed to showcase the band’s musicality and style. A great day of light-hearted competition and enjoyable music.

The band will be taking part in the local Remembrance Sunday parade, providing music as the community comes together to honour and remember those who gave their lives in service.
